Mitchell Creek is an Australian professional basketball
player who currently plays for the Adelaide 36ers
in the National Basketball League. Creek was one of the leagues rookie players in the 2010-11 NBL season
A former scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport
where he played 15 games in the South East Australian Basketball League
in 2010 averaging 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Before joining the 36ers for the 2010-11 NBL season he was a member of the Australian Under-19 team that played in the Albert Schweitzer International Tournament in Mannheim where he was tournament MVP.
At only 18 years of age, Creek played for Victoria in the 2011 U20 Nationals. He capped off an outstanding week at the National Under 20’s championships by claiming the gold medal with the successful Victorian team and winning the prestigious Bob Staunton award for tournament MVP. He was the leading scorer for the Vics and averaged 19 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3 assists per game, his team victorious over a determined Queensland in the final by seven points, 77 to 70.
During the 2010-11 season the 197cm tall Creek played 20 NBL games for the 36ers, averaging 5.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He made his NBL debut on 3 December 2010 against the Townsville Crocodiles
at Adelaide Arena in Adelaide scoring 7 points in just over 21 minutes game time in the 36ers 92-79 win.
Creeks solid play during his debut NBL season and his success in the 2011 National U20 championship has seen him rewarded with selection in the Australian Emus (U19) training squad for the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship
