Mohammed Al-Asadi

Mohammed M. Al-Asaadi is a freelance Yemeni journalist who has written for the Al-Jarida daily in Kuwait, the Media Line news agency in the US, and Al-Ahram Weekly
in Egypt, in both English and Arabic. After nine years at the Yemen Observer
he became its chief editor in 2005, and co-founded Yemen’s English Language magazine Yemen Today.
During his period as editor at the Yemen Observer, he was arrested and charged for republishing some of the images of Muhammed first published in Denmark
. "Up to 21 prosecution lawyers called for the death penalty for Mohammed Al-Asadi, the Editor-in-Chief of the Yemen Observer, and the permanent closure of the newspaper, during Al-Asadi’s trial on Wednesday." The newspaper claimed they were thumbnail sketches published in order to condemn them.
He appeared local and international TV and radio stations including the Aljazeera Arabic, Aljazeera International, CBS, Fox News, France 24, DW, Channel 4. As a reporter, his works appeared in The New York Times, the Post Standard, Newsweek, and the Sunday Times.
