Monkey Shines is a platform game
which was developed and published as shareware
by FantaSoft, LLC in 1997 for the Apple Macintosh. In the game, a monkey named Bonzo adventures through different level
s collecting fruits and keys. The red keys activate the exit and complete the level (or world). There are also some blue keys which activate bonus levels. The game came included with bonus levels and a level editor

The original game starts out with five levels,spooked,about the house,spaced out,in the drink, and in the swing but more levels can be infinitely added to the "others" level section by downloading them from the internet. In 1997, Monkey Shines was winner of the most nostalgic game of the year by MacUser
magazine. A Microsoft Windows
-compatible version of the game was also made later. A sequel was released titled Monkey Shines 2: Gorilla Warfare. There is a very similar game called Monty on the run
which was released in 1985.
