Athletics
The motto of MW's sports teams is "Expect To Win." The football team made it to the NYS State Class AA Final Game in Syracuse, New York at the Carrier Dome for 4 years consecutively starting in 2005. They are also the defending 7-year consecutive Section 9 title holders. Monroe-Woodbury's ice hockey team won the state championship in 2007. The Crusaders' female cross-country team has won the NYS Class AA 2010 Champion title. Boys varsity wrestling has ended their season within the Top 10 in New York State for the past 10 years. The MW male track team also placed 2nd in the 1600 meter SMR at New Balance Nationals. The Crusader's male and female indoor track & field teams both captured the Section 9 title in 2011 as well, alongside with the male varsity Crusader hockey team winning the Section 9 crown for 2011.Teen suicide
In early 2011, the High School was hit by a set of two suicides, and a third attempted suicide. Since then, the district put into place a set of counselors to speak to those who desired to meet them, and set up conferences with parents about suicide prevention.Report Card
Monroe Woodbury has shown a general increase in the percent of its students achieving higher scores on Regents exams from the 2005-2006 school year to the 2007-2008 school year, in both sciences and maths, as well as languages. Indeed, 86% of graduates in 2006 received a Regents diploma, as compared to 89% in 2008. As well, a low 1% of would-be graduates dropped out in 2008..
