On May 11, 2006, a definitive agreement was signed to purchase the Hard Rock Hotel from Peter Morton
for $770 million. As part of the deal, the company has the rights to use the Hard Rock
name for hotels and casinos in the Western United States and certain other territories. Also, 23 acre (9.3 ha) of land for expansion as well as the Hard Rock Cafe on the corner of Harmon and Paradise.
The company most recently opened Ames in Boston in 2009.
The company will open its fourth New York hotel and third Mondrian in February 2011.
