. It elects one Member of Parliament
(MP) by the first past the post system of election.
This is the successor seat to Morley and Rothwell, and was first contested in 2010. Rothwell
is in a newly formed constituency of Elmet and Rothwell
, and the suburb of Middleton
has been transferred to Leeds Central
. Outwood
was previously in the abolished seat of Normanton
, the remainder of which is now part of Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford
and part of Wakefield
.
, the Boundary Commission for England created this new cross-border constituency as a consequence of the county losing one parliamentary seat following population decline.
