In 1984, the airport became Mostar International Airport and was announced to be an alternative for Sarajevo International Airport
during the 1984 Winter Olympics
. The airport was also popular for people making the pilgrimage to Međugorje.
As of October 2009 there are no scheduled flights from the airport.
