Mother Vulpine were a four piece alternative rock
band from Leeds

. They formed in early 2006 and split unofficially sometime in late 2007. They were notable for their distinctive sound which quickly gained a lot of interest in the band, with its combination of Q.O.T.S.A.
esque riffs and heavy dance orientated beats.
In early 2007, the band were approached by Eagles of Death Metal
's record label
to submit a demo
. The band used this opportunity to ask if they could support EODM on their UK tour, as they knew there would be a date passing through Leeds. Luck had it that the main support pulled out, so Mother Vulpine were asked to join the tour.
Around a similar time, the band sent demos to Justin Lockey from Yourcodenameis:milo
, who was insistent that he recorded their material. With growing media interest, the band decided to use this recording session for their debut single
, which would be released by new Leeds label On The Bone Records. For the release, the band made a self directed video
made in the setting of a forest.
At the start of September 2007, the band announced on their MySpace page that they were cancelling all shows for the immediate future, to sort problems out within the band, suggesting that band members were not getting along. From this point the band made no official statement of a split, but instead various members started new projects of their own; with singer Matt Bigland forming Dinosaur Pile-up

Career
The band formed over a period of about four years, where Lindsay Wilson and Matt Bigland played guitar together and began the sounds and concepts that would later become Mother Vulpine. A while later, they enlisted Tom Hudson's help as a guitarist, but then realised he fitted perfectly as a bassist. In April 2006, they came across Ben Waddleton and decided to try him out as a drummer. The dance influenced beats he brought to the sound, were exactly what the band wanted for their original vision, and so he was asked to join.In early 2007, the band were approached by Eagles of Death Metal
