. The current convention center is the 115th largest in the country competing for one-fourth of the convention market. This new project will allow the city to compete for three-fourths of the convention market. When completed, the building is expected to have 370000 square feet (34,374.1 m²) of exhibit space and is being designed by Atlanta-based Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates
. The Music City Center is slated for completion in 2013.
It will be located on a 16 acres (6.5 ha) site bounded by 5th Avenue, 8th Avenue, Demonbreun Street, and Franklin Street, adjacent to the Bridgestone Arena and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
