Encyclopedia
My American Heart was a rock
band from San Diego, California
. The band's original name was No Way Out, which consisted of Larry Soliman on vocals, Jesse Barrera on bass guitar, Clint Delgado and Jeremy Mendez on guitar, and Steven Oira on Drums. The Band fitted into at first the "emo-rock" scene with their debut album "The Meaning In Make-up" which was released through Warcon Records. It featured elements of screaming or harsher vocals delivered from Jeremy Mendez who eventually left the band. The bands follow up to "The Meaning In Make-up" was called "Hiding Inside The Horrible Weather" also released through Warcon Records, which also featured the bands new line up of Larry Soliman as vocalist, Jesse Barrera as guitarist along with Matthew VanGasbeck, Dustin Hook on bass and Steven Oira on drums after the departure of Jeremy Mendez who featured as a singular guitarist. My American Heart split in October 2009.
tour in 2005 with a four-piece. Shortly after the tour the band recorded the full length album The Meaning in Makeup with producer Sal Villanueva
released on Kevin Lyman's label, Warcon, in fall 2005. While on Warped Tour, the band picked up bassist Dustin Hook.
During the summer of 2006 original guitarist, Jeremy Mendez left the band and joined a project called "Trade Explosions". My American Heart picked up guitarist Jake "The Snake Nailer" Taylor (Original vocalist of Deadbeat) on their last tour at a venue in Cincinnati, Ohio before they went into the studio to record "Hiding Inside the Horrible Weather
" with producer James Paul Wisner. Majority of the album was inspired from Snake Nailer's roots in the grudge-core scene. The final track, that was a last minute add on to the album, was entitled Moving On. The track was a song completely composed by Snake Nailer himself telling of his battle through alcoholism and drug addiction from his teen years to his mid twenties, and his decision to "Move on" and better his life.
It was announced on the Soundwave (Australian music festival) tour that Steve Oira would leave the band after tour due to a mutual agreement. Jake Kalb (ex-The Fold/New Atlantic/The Suicide Pact) has replaced him on drums. As of June 2008, Jake "The Snake Nailer" Taylor will be joining the band on guitar permanently per the band's MySpace page.

History
My American Heart gained much local fame from many local SoCal venues they played at. Due to some legal troubles concerning their name the band changed it from No Way Out to their current name, My American Heart (which was named after the Piebald song "American Heart"). The band made their first big break winning the Ernie Ball Battle Of The Bands. As popularity grew, the band was pressured to play at larger venues farther from home, causing Clint Delgado to leave the band to focus on his education.
