A fierce Jamaican bred MC, Nadirah X aka Nadz combines elements of hip-hop, reggae, soul and spoken word – she is revolutionary in mind and music. Her lyrical power knows no limits, incorporating her relentless views on self-examination, relationships and injustice. Her dynamic performance, courage and story-telling brilliance have captured a wide audience, anxious for her debut album. An ‘ordinary girl’ with an extraordinary will.

From her start as a breakout artist in Jamaica, Nadirah has put together an impressive resume. She won acclaim as “Best New Female Artist” in Jamaica. Later she was selected by Coca Cola as an artist for their “Real Campaign” in the Caribbean.

Nadirah’s unique rap delivery and evolving style won her the Caribbean Music Expo, a competition of over 300 contestants. It was at the winning performance where she met rock legend Dave Stewart (one half of multi-platinum duo The Eurythmics). Stewart immediately signed her to a management deal and began writing and producing music for her. He also took her on his European tour along with Mudbone, lead singer for Parliament/Funkadelic.

Nadirah went on to record with Mudbone on his Fresh Mud album, produced by Stewart and released in UK. The success of that recording lead to an invite to support Pink’s I’m Not Dead Tour in the UK as an opening act. Her success in the UK opened the door to many more collaborations, accolades and opportunities.

Her song, “I Hate This” was included on the soundtrack of the film Tomb Raider Cradle of Life. Her collaborations with Mick Jagger & Joss Stone appeared on the Golden Globe award-winning soundtrack for the film Alfie(2004). She wrote and recorded with Jimmy Cliff on his Grammy Nominated Black Magic album. Nadirah is featured on the track “Womankind” on Annie Lennox’s latest album, Songs of Mass Destruction. “Womankind” was also featured in the film The Women and was produced by Glenn Ballard.
Nadirah also co-wrote and recorded the Green Peace anthem "Go-Green" with her manager Dave Stewart featuring such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Imogen Heap, Bonnie Rait, Jeff Beck, Annie Lennox, Natalie Imbruglia to name a few. She also wrote the free Angola 3 song with Saul Williams and Stewart. She has collaborated with such activists as the late Anita Roddick, the outspoken Harry Belafonte.
