The Nantucket Independent was a weekly newspaper on Nantucket. It first went into circulation on July 2, 2003. In April 2008, GateHouse Media New England announced that it had purchased the newspaper. In September 2010 GateHouse suspended publication of the struggling weekly and closed its Nantucket office.
