Porritt signed a two-year scholarship with Middlesbrough in the summer of 2006, and signed his first professional contract with the club on 10 June 2008. He was sent on loan to neighbours Darlington

on 18 August 2009. At the end of his month-long loan, former Middlesbrough, and then Darlington manager, Colin Todd opted to send Porritt back to Boro after just five games. Porritt's contract with Middlesbrough was cancelled by mutual consent on 1 February 2010.
Porritt was reported to have trained with Portuguese club Belenenses, but did not sign for them.
After a 10 month spell in the Belgium 3rd Division B with R.O.C. de Charleroi-Marchienne
Porrit was released from his contract with the club. Porrit was the offered a trial with English club Norton FC. Porrit made his Norton debut on the 23rd March 2011 against Esh Winning

He now plays for Northern League side Stokesley Sports Club F.C. and has captained the side since joining in August 2011.
