The National Police Academy, in Islamabad
, is a federal training centre for the senior officers of the civilian law enforcement agencies of Pakistan
. The senior officers jointly form the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), which is a civil service
pay group. Since 1947, the training of Assistant Superintendents of Police (the lowest senior rank) was conducted at a police college in Sardah, an institution established in 1913. After 1971, makeshift arrangements were made and training of officers was conducted at the Civil Services Academy in Lahore and the Police Training College in Sihala

The National Police Academy was established in 1978 with the Commandant's office in Islamabad and the actual academy 31 km (19.3 mi) away at Soan camp. The academy was poorly resourced, lacking professional trainers and provided offerin few courses.
The academy is headed by a commandant, a PSP officer with the rank of Inspector General of Police or Additional Inspector General of Police
and assisted by a deputy commandant with the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police
. The course commander is in charge of training and is an officer of the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police.
