National Public School, Koramangala was established in 2003 under the chairmanship of Dr. K P Gopalkrishna following the glorious lineage of the prestigious institutions - National Public School, Rajajinagar & National Public School, Chennai, both established over four decades ago, and National Public School, Indiranagar, established in 1982.
This Institution is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the national body of the Government of India for Secondary Education. It is run by the National Education Trust, which is a linguistic, regional, minority institution imparting quality education.
The National Public School family is a diverse body of parents, teachers and children coming from various parts of the globe. It is synonymous with academic excellence and all round development of personality. Its parents and teachers firmly believe in the importance of a strong academic foundation coupled with equal stress on creative expression and social adaptability skills. To a great extent, students come from nationally mobile families with most of the parents working in multinational companies, private industries, All India Services and Defence Services. This makes for excellent interaction among children from varied backgrounds. .
Each house has its distinct identity and heritage. The Challengers, in their scarlet, aim "To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield" (a line written by Alfred Lord Tennyson). The Explorers, dressed in purple, abide by the motto "Endeavour to Reach Beyond". The Pioneers, in amber, are "The light that always shows, the spark that always glows". The Voyagers, in sky blue, follow the motto "Vigour, Valour, Victory".
Each year, the faculty members nominate a student body to govern individual clubs and associations. Students of Grades XII or XI are eligible for the posts of School Prefect
, Sports Captain and House Captain, and their respective deputies. One student is handed charge of the student body. The students of Grades IX to XII are elected to preside over clubs. These clubs include Science, Mathematics, Computers, Literary, Commerce, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Music, Quizzing and the News Desk. The student government body comprises close to 60 members and takes office at an official Investiture Ceremony.
National Public Schools mandate the study of Hindi
from 1st grade stage onwards. Students are given the option of studying French or Sanskrit from 5th grade. In the 9th grade the students opt one secondary language out of the two additional languages.
