Allison Wollam of the Houston Business Journal said that Fallas Paredes, a brand operated by National Stores, as "a value-oriented family clothing store". The company opened in 1962 with one store in Los Angeles. The chains operated by National Stores include Factory 2-U, Fallas Discount Stores, Fallas Kids, and Fallas Paredes.

After Weiner's

 in Houston closed in 2001, National Stores took over many of the store locations that were held by Weiner's. National Stores acquired 31 of the 97 Houston-area Weiner's leases.

-based Factory 2-U Stores, Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in February 2004, it arranged the sale of 172 stores to National Stores. In August of that year, Factory 2-U stores announced that it was liquidating and that it would receive $28 million from selling about all of its assets to Factory 2-U Liquidation LLC, a consortium headed by National Stores.
