, heading southward to the hamlet of the same name. From there it turns eastward, eventually reaching NY 32
. The two highways run concurrent for 2.3 miles (3.7 km), crossing a causeway
of the Alcove Reservoir
, before splitting. NY 143 continues southeastward, running by the same reservoir. Reaching the Alcove hamlet, NY 143 then heads eastward.
From here, the route is winding and narrow, with little or no shoulders. Eventually, it assumes the name Martins Hill Road and heads downward to NY 9W
and the village of Ravena
. Crossing US 9W as Main Street, it passes under the Thruway
