.
with NY 85A on the eastern edge of Voorheesville
. This was the second modern roundabout built in New York State. The route heads north through the towns of New Scotland
and Guilderland
as State Farm Road, taking a northeasterly alignment as it approaches the hamlet of Westmere
. In the center of Westmere, NY 155 intersects U.S. Route 20 and becomes New Karner Road. The route continues out of the hamlet and to the northeast, entering the city of Albany
.
Within the capital city, NY 155 maintains a northeast routing, intersecting the Washington Avenue Extension (unsigned NY 910D), passing over the New York State Thruway
(Interstate 90) and briefly reentering Guilderland prior to passing into the town of Colonie. In the village of Colonie
, NY 155 crosses NY 5
. The route heads away from the village, progressing to the northeast to Watervliet Shaker Road, where NY 155 breaks from its northeasterly alignment and turns east onto the winding road.
After navigating a number of turns, NY 155 arrives at the western edge of the Albany International Airport
, delimited by Albany Shaker Road. NY 155 turns right, following Albany Shaker around the southern extent of the airport. Southeast of the airport at Interstate 87 exit 4, NY 155 turns left onto Wolf Road Extension, a northerly extension to Wolf Road (unsigned NY 910B) to the south. NY 155 heads north parallel to Interstate 87 to the eastern segment of Watervliet Shaker Road. The route turns east onto Watervliet Shaker, meeting I-87 at exit 5 a short distance to the east.
Past I-87, NY 155 meets U.S. Route 9 south of Latham
. From US 9 east, NY 155 follows a southeasterly track to Watervliet
, where NY 155 becomes 10th Street at Lincoln Avenue immediately southwest of the city. As 10th Street, NY 155 returns to the northeast and enters Watervliet, following 10th Street to its terminus at 3rd Avenue. The route continues along a pair of local streets, 3rd Avenue and 13th Street, before terminating at NY 32 at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 13th Street.
Although it is signed as a state highway, parts of NY 155 are actually owned and maintained by Albany County. This includes the sections signed as County Route 157 (Karner Road and Watervliet Shaker Road from US 20 to CR 151), CR 151 (Albany Shaker Road from CR 157 to CR 153) and CR 153 (Wolf Road Extension). NY 155 within the city of Watervliet is maintained by the city.

The routing of NY 155 around the Albany International Airport
has been changed several times over the years as the airport has expanded, extended runways, and improved terminal and parking access. The most recent realignment occurred in 2003 as the alignment of both Watervliet Shaker Road and Albany Shaker Road were reconfigured within the vicinity of the airport.
