Newton Abbot is a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom
. It elects one Member of Parliament
(MP) by the first past the post system of election.
The constituency was created in time for the 2010 general election, following a review of parliamentary representation in Devon
by the Boundary Commission for England, which has increased the number of seats in the county from 11 to 12. It replaces the southern part of the former Teignbridge
seat, including the town of Newton Abbot
itself, as well as Dawlish
and Teignmouth
