, was the first choice goalkeeper for Limerick between 1976 and 1993, while his cousin, Joe Quaid

Quaid was educated locally and later attended Institute of Technology, Tralee
. Here he won a Ryan Cup medal and was Man of the Match in the final when Tralee
won the title in 2011. He later won a Higher Ed All Star award.
2010 proved to be busy year for Quaid. That year he captured a county junior hurling title following a victory over St. Kieran's in the final. Effin were later defeated by Meelin
in the provincial club series. That same year Quaid lined out in the county senior hurling final for divisional side Emmets. Kilmallock
provided the opposition and won the game by 1-16 to 1-12.
In 2011 Quaid helped Effin to win the Limerick Intermediate Championship.
