Nicolangelo Carnimeo was an Italian
lieutenant-general; later a legal-administrative judge and then a member of Parliament of the Italian Republic.
Graduated in law and political sciences he was commissioned as an officer in the Royal Italian Army
in 1909.
Carnimeo served during both the Italo-Turkish War
and the First World War.
From 1940 to 1941, during the Second World War, he was general Officer Commanding 2nd Colonial Division in East Africa & general Officer Commanding X Territorial Defence Command. He led the brilliant if doomed Italian defence in the Battle of Keren
