In March 1985, The Cult recorded their fourth single, "She Sells Sanctuary", which charted at #15 in the UK charts. It re-entered the charts at #56 in September 1986, spending 14 consecutive weeks on the charts. The song was recently voted #18 in VH1's Indie 100. Preston refused to accept being put on wages after the song became a hit and parted company with the band in June 1985. He then went to New York and worked with Nile Rogers. Nigel was a regular face on the London club scene and was a big personality, the 'life and soul of the party'. Nigel died from a heroin overdose April 1, 1992
