After not played in the field for 1½ seasons, he joined on 2 February 2009 on loan to TSV 1860 München until end of season.
In 2009-10 season, he was loaned to Empoli
, which the coach converted him to become a right fullback. He started his first Serie A match for Fiorentina on 17 October 2010, as left fullback, which the coach rested the original starter Manuel Pasqual
