Lens (35 mm equiv) zoom, aperture Aperture In optics, an aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. More specifically, the aperture of an optical system is the opening that determines the cone angle of a bundle of rays that come to a focus in the image plane. The aperture determines how collimated the admitted rays are,... |

RAW image format
The following Coolpix cameras support RAWRAW image format
A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, image scanner, or motion picture film scanner. Raw files are so named because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited with a bitmap graphics editor...
image files:
- 5000 (discontinued) - NEF format (with firmware upgrade)
- P6000 (discontinued) – NRW format
- P7000 – NRW format
Some Coolpix cameras which are not advertised as supporting a RAW file format can actually produce usable raw files if switched to a maintenance mode. Note that switching to this mode can invalidate a camera's guarantee. Nikon models with this capability: E700, E800, E880, E900, E950, E990, E995, E2100, E2500, E3700, E4300, E4500.
