Rajasekhara Reddy to help retain the seat for the representing Congress candidate Ponnala Laksmaiah. In which the latter won purely with Nimma Raja Reddy's influence, setting up a land slide victory result for Congress in the region. He breathed his last on 19 October 2009 in Cherial
