. He started with a toy keyboard. He has claimed in an interview that by the time he reached the age of four in 1999, he decided that he wanted to play a real piano. At age four, he performed in several venues throughout New England

In July 2001, Grey-Cabey continued on to Australia, and at age five, became the youngest soloist ever to perform with an orchestra at the Sydney Opera House, as well as the Queensland Conservatory and the International Convention in Brisbane. He appeared on Ripley's Believe It or Not. He has been admitted to Harvard University for the class of 2015, but after spending a week in the First-Year Outdoor Program in FOP 8, he decided to defer a year to catch up with family.
