Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3.7% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.2%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 47.8% is used for growing crops and 26.8% is pastures, while 6.6% is used for orchards or vine crops.
The municipality is a scattered settlement with an upper and lower village on the Terrasse above the Gürbetal
(Gürbe valley), while part of the municipality is on the valley floor. Since 1948 the hamlet
of Stoffelsrüti (in 1941 it had a population of 41), which used to be a exclave of Jaberg
, has belonged to Noflen.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP
which received 73% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the CSP
(7.3%), the SPS
(6.9%) and the FDP
(4.5%).
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 28.2% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 60.9% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 10.9%.
