The 6255i cannot be activated on Verizon Wireless

, despite being technically capable of operation on that network; however, 6255i phones that were originally activated on Alltel before their acquisition by Verizon will continue to be usable. The 6256i is identical to the 6255i, except for having been customized by Verizon for use on their network. Some of the above listed software (e.g. MP3 player) has been deleted, and certain features (e.g. downloading software or ringtones) are only available through Verizon for a fee; some of these restrictions may be removed via Nokia's programming software.
