Nord-Est has a total population of 3,674,367, making it the most populated region in the country. Its population density is 99.71/km², higher than the national average of 91.3/km². 1,808,390 (49.22%) of the population is male, while 1,865,977 (50.78%) is female. The region has a significant Romanian majority, of 97.9%, with the second largest minority being the Roma, who make up 1.2% of the population. Other minorities, which include Ukrainians
