In 1996 Åby was sold to the foundation of Nordens Ark. And in 1999 Nordens Ark opened for the first time for visitors.

Nordens ark is open for visitors everyday from ten o’clock all year round and its about 100 000 visitors every year.

How Nordens Ark is operated
Nordens ark has a specific part called Lunden, this part is a private separated part the park. In this area there is quarantine for PredatorsPredation

Projects
Nordens ark has participated or is currently taking part in a number of re-population projects. With re-population projects it’s the purpose to release animals born at the facility into the wild, these animals have then been apart in the ongoing projects.Examples of re-introduction projects that Nordens ark have been involved and participated in are;
