History

It was established in 1972 on an original site occupying 40 acres (161,874.4 m²) on Thames Road, in the Wolviston Court area of Billingham.
The school was awarded specialist Sports College

In 2009/2010, it merged with Billingham campus School and they are both named Northfield school.
