and also an Anglican Chaplain. Two new chapels were built in the town - one around 1840 and the other around 1850. The present local church, St. John the Baptist http://saojoaobatista.anglicanarj.org/site/information-in-english/ is in communion with the Anglican Episcopal Church in Brazil
