 and trained at Yubileiny Sports Palace. Their choreographers were Alexander Matveev, David Audish, and Moskvina. Kazakova and Dmitriev won the European Championship in 1996, bronze at 1997 Worlds, and the Olympic title in 1998. They then turned professional and continued to skate together for several years.

After retiring, Kazakova began working as a coach and has also appeared in Russian skating television shows.

Kazakova married Alexei Novitski in 1996 but divorced him four years later. In 2004, she married Konstantin Kovalenko and gave birth to their daughter, Ksenia, in 2005. They split in 2008.
