Olaf Karl Tufte (born 27 April 1976 in Tønsberg
) is a Norwegian
competition rower
.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics
and 2008 Summer Olympics
he won the gold medal in the men's single sculls. He won silver in the men's double sculls at the 2000 Summer Olympics
together with Fredrik Bekken
. He has also won two World Championships in the single sculls, in 2001 and 2003.
In heat 6 of the 2000m in the 2008 Olympics single sculls, Tufte came in first with a time of 7:20.18.
In the finals, he was down nearly 2 seconds with 500m to go, but came back to win with a time of 6 minutes, 59.83 seconds, repeating his victory in Athens.
Tufte was listed as the number one male rower of 2009 in the 2010 FOCUS issue of FISA's World Rowing Magazine.
When not rowing, Tufte earns a living growing cereal
