Platov fought all of his first 20 fights in Belgium winning all of his fights, 16 by KO, with the exception of one which was a points defeat to Ludovic Mace, although he faced Mace again six months later and Platov avenged the defeat and KO'd Mace in the third round.

, another former title contender. The fight ended with a no-decision after Platov was cut over the left eye following an accidental headbutt and the referee stopped the fight. Some critics and Williams himself have contested the stoppage, calling it premature.

Platov's next fight will take place on November 8, against Jason Gavern, in Bamberg, Germany. The fight was rescheduled for December 20 and Platov won a clear 8-round decision, flooring Gavern in the sixth round. This brought his record up to 27–1.

Platov recently fought Daniil Peretyatko on June 27, 2009 and won the fight by unanimous decision.
