living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% were non-families. 30.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.66.
In the city the population was spread out with 18.6% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 29.1% from 45 to 64, and 24.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $28,750, and the median income for a family was $33,500. Males had a median income of $28,417 versus $23,500 for females. The per capita income

Students are also served by the Pine Forest Christian Academy. The school was established in 1999 and has classes from pre-school (4 year old) through High School. The enrollment averages 50 and offers several curriculum choices. The school is a ministry of the Pine Forest Baptist Church on Highway 190 East, where the school is also located.
