The current mayor of Orrick is Marilyn Butler. The town's recent claim to fame is its winning high school football team, the Orrick Bearcats. In 2007 and 2008, the team went undefeated and claimed championships in MSHSAA's Class 1.

There were 340 households out of which 39.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples
living together, 13.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% were non-families. 23.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the town the population was spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $44,205. Males had a median income of $32,250 versus $21,198 for females. The per capita income
for the town was $15,215. About 10.6% of families and 10.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.0% of those under age 18 and 6.7% of those age 65 or over.
