The age distribution was 25.50% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 28.00% from 25 to 44, 24.10% from 45 to 64, and 14.00% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. Owen County is served by a county library in the heart of Owenton. The Owen County Public Library was established in 1946 by the Owen County Woman's Club.
