, a form of music which derives lyrics from popular poetry and devotional works. Among his famous songs are "bArayya beLadingaLE", "Bramha ninge joDisteeni", "mooDal kuNigal kere yEri", "nageyu baruthide yenage".

He was Chief Composer at the Gubbi Veeranna Drama Company. He acted and composed the music for "VasanthaSena".

He had four children Prema, Vasanth, Sharath and Santosh.
