. They were semi finalist of the 1994-95 Liga Indonesia and finalist in 1999–2000 Liga Indonesia Premier Division. Bontang FC also build a football academy namely Diklat Mandau or PKT Junior.

History

The club is originally founded as PS Pupuk Kaltim Galatama in 18 June, 1988 and founded by PT Pupuk Kaltim. It went through several name changes (Pupuk Kaltim and PKT Bontang) and changes as PS Bontang PKT (abbreviation from Persatuan Sepakbola Bontang Pupuk Kalimantan Timur) in 2002. Bontang PKT also one team in Liga Indonesia, who never relegated from Divisi Utama Liga Indonesia

Supporters

Many Bontang FC supporters called themselves Mandau Mania. Mandau is a type of sword used by the Dayaks who inhabit most parts of the Borneo island. Other supporters are called Sintuk Mania and The Valcon. Since 25 January, 2008, Sintuk Mania and The Valcon were merger into a new supporters, which name is Bontang Mania.
