as the founding chairman of the board. The organization provides an opportunity for those who have been involved in broadcasting for 20 years or more to socialize, network, and honor fellow pioneer broadcasters for outstanding achievements.

Five times a year, the PPB hosts luncheons at which a guest of honor is presented the Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award, and members and invited entertainment personalities share personal memories of the honoree. In addition, another member, age 75 or older, is inducted into the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters' Diamond Circle - these are broadcasters who may not necessarily be celebrities in the usual sense of the word, but who have nonetheless made a significant contribution to the broadcasting industry.
