Professional career

DeMarco had his professional debut in March 1945, a points decision against 1-16 Sal Giglio. DeMarco won his first five professional fights, losing for the first time against Butch Charles in October of the same year. Despite the setback DeMarco continued to fight and by September 1948 he was sporting a record of 32-2. It was on the 10th of that month that DeMarco fought the legendary Willie Pep
