. It is located in Valdivia Province
in Los Ríos Region
, and is about 48 km southeast of Valdivia
. When Los Ríos Region was created it was meant that Paillaco would be in Ranco Province
, but Paillaco's inhabitants and mayor opposed strongly and argued that Paillaco had much stronger links with Valdivia than La Unión
