Paired disparity code
Encyclopedia
In telecommunication
, a paired disparity code is a line code
in which some or all of the characters are represented by two sets of digits of opposite disparity
that are used in sequence
so as to minimize the total disparity of a longer sequence of digits.
An alternate mark inversion signal is an implementation of a paired disparity code.
The digits may be represented by disparate physical quantities, such as two different frequencies, phases, voltage levels, magnetic polarities, or electrical polarities, each one of the pair representing a 0 or a 1.
Telecommunication
Telecommunication is the transmission of information over significant distances to communicate. In earlier times, telecommunications involved the use of visual signals, such as beacons, smoke signals, semaphore telegraphs, signal flags, and optical heliographs, or audio messages via coded...

Sequence
In mathematics, a sequence is an ordered list of objects . Like a set, it contains members , and the number of terms is called the length of the sequence. Unlike a set, order matters, and exactly the same elements can appear multiple times at different positions in the sequence...
