 of Tamil Nadu, India.They are called as katesar pattamkattiyars of tirunelveli and tuticorin whereas they are called as Kadaiyar pattamkattimar of ramanathapuram.The have seven sub-divisions known as as Keelai. People in the same kelai don't get married.
In the Pattamkattiyar society, the maternal uncle's responsibility is more than the parents' responsibility.

Some of the Pattamkattiyars of Tirunelveli, Ramanad and Tuticorin were converted by St. Francis Xavier and other priests starting from 1536. As per the records, the paravar girls was raped / fucked by Kallar in the british period. So these coasteral people called as Kadaiyan Pattamkattiyars.

they of often linked with kallar community but as per the historical evidences,these peoples are of a different group and their customs finds simillarity with kallar in case of intercaste sub divisions and maternal relationships. their mangalsutra/thali worn during mairrage are similar to pillai. their mairrage customs find similarity with brahmin

due to this similarities they are often mistaken to be a subcaste of kallars but they are a different caste.
