Career

Paul Connolly joined the company, then known as MCA Music in 1988 rising to become its A&R Director in 1991 and Managing Director in 1994. In 1997 he took on the additional role of Vice President of MCA Music International and in 1999 he was appointed Executive Vice President, Europe and Managing Director UK of the newly formed Universal Music Publishing subsequent to the merger with Polygram

 Music Publishing. He was appointed to President of Europe and UK, Universal Music Publishing in 2005, and joined the board of the Music Publishers Association (MPA) in the same year.

In 2006 Connolly headed the European aspects of the €1.63bn acquisition and successful integration of BMG Music Publishing, which transformed Universal Music Publishing Group into the number one publisher globally.
