Paul Laffin

Paul Laffin is a former political research advisor in the European Parliament
to a Conservative MEP and is now working in English local government. Laffin studied at Trinity College
in Dublin, representing the University rugby team
, before reading for his Masters in Environmental and Social policy at St Cross College, Oxford
. During his time in Dublin he represented the Ireland national under-21s. While at Oxford he represented the University in the Varsity Match
against Cambridge University.
Prior to his time in Oxford he played professional rugby in France
for three years.
In 2005 Laffin retired from professional rugby to pursue a career in public affairs. After a brief spell working for a consultancy in Brussels, Laffin went to England to take up a position within Essex County Council as a Cabinet Advisor. In March 2010, Laffin returned to Brussels via a secondment to the East of England Brussels Office where he focuses on EU health policy.
Laffin still plays rugby and used to be an integral part of the Brussels Barbarians
first team. He is rumoured to be playing for Wallonian team ASUB.
