Paul Mason is a former professional footballer. After being released by Everton FC as a schoolboy he had trials at Manchester City and Tranmere Rovers but rejected them. He was working as a labourer in Holland when he was spotted by FC Groningen scouts whilst playing for his local pub team. During his time in Holland he was voted in Mark van Basten's dream team for up-and-coming stars. Mason was asked to play for Scotland during his time at Aberdeen but declined because he was born in England. During his career he made over 100 appearances for both Ipswich Town F.C.

Paul Mason now lives in the seaside resort of Southport

 where he owns and managed a guest house with his three children: Dannie, Sammie and David. Paul continues to take an interest in football and other sports and his Guest House has proved popular with Golfers taking part in local tournaments and celebrities appearing at the local Theatres.
