 in 1996 as a teenager with his mother and brother. He started kickboxing in 1998 under Alan Wong. He turned pro on February 2001 and moved through the ranks and three different WMC weight divisions as a World Champion showing real talent and dedication to the sport.

In 2005 Paul qualified through the K-1 Kings of Oceania League to be one of the 4 men representing Oceania in the K-1 World Grand Prix 2006 in Auckland. He defeated on points in the first round, leaving Jason Suttie

 standing before him in the final. "The Sting" knocked out Suttie with a high kick to claim the K-1 World GP 2006 Oceania title.

He was then invited to Sapporo on 30 July 2006, to his first K-1 Japan event, and impressed the attendance with an easy victory over Japanese fighter Tatsufumi Tomihira.

His next bout was on 30 September 2006 in the Final 16 Qualification round at the Osaka-Jo Hall

On 2 December 2006 at K-1 World Grand Prix 2006 Finals, Paul was selected to fight on undercard against Badr Hari

. On 23 June Paul entered the K-1 World Grand Prix 2007 in Amsterdam as a underdog. He shockingly knocked out all three of his opponents, including the defending champion Bjorn Bregy

He next fought at the Final 16, where he met defending World Grand Prix champion Semmy Schilt

. Again he put up a very impressive fight but was caught by a knee to the head in the first round. Though he surprisingly got up afterwards the fight was called off in favour of his opponent.

On 7 December 2007 he fought in the reserve fight at the finals. He fought K-1 World Grand Prix 2007 in Hawaii champion, Mighty Mo

He was again picked to fight on the undercard at the finals. This time he was knocked unconscious by Melvin Manhoef

In 2010 Paul tried his luck again in a regional K-1 tournament. He entered the Oceania Grand Prix in Canberra as a favourite. Though he was defeated in the final by Ben Edwards

In 2011 took a rematch against Thor Hoopman who had beaten Paul on points. Paul knocks out Hoopman within one round with punches.
