Paul Stapleton

Paul Stapleton is the vice-chairman of Plymouth Argyle
and senior partner in the Plymouth
based accountancy practice Parkhurst Hill. He was previously the chairman at Plymouth from August 2001 to July 2009, and has been a director of the club since 1998. He is also a treasurer of Plymouth Argyle Youth Development.
In August 2001, Stapleton succeeded Dan McCauley
as chairman of Plymouth, heading a consortium of local businessmen each with an equal share in the club.
Stapleton's tenure has seen Argyle win two championships, in 2001/02 and 2003/04, which have taken them from the fourth tier of English football to the second. However, the Board has seen several changes of personnel after internal arguments over investment priorities. As of March 2007, only two of the original five members remained, together with three new members.
Stapleton presided over the Board's purchase of the freehold of Argyle's ground, Home Park, from Plymouth City Council in early 2007.
In July 2009, Stapleton stepped down as the club's chairman following the completion of a takeover by a consortium led by Sir Roy Gardner.
